The Blessing Pool Classroom:

A Speculative Artifact for Belonging, Safety, and Emotional Grounding

This project presents The Blessing Pool Classroom, a speculative classroom design proposal that reimagines the learning environment as a space that actively supports emotional safety, dignity, and belonging. The proposal explores how physical space itself can become part of the learning experience, especially for students who may experience exclusion, discomfort, or a lack of belonging.

Centered around a reflective pool and a sensory learning environment, the design draws on ideas related to belonging, embodied learning, design justice, decolonial design, and emotional well-being. Together, these elements imagine a higher education space that is more inclusive, culturally responsive, and attentive to students’ lived experiences.
